Grounded in science, delivered with heart

I’m Dr. Lauren Kerwin, a clinical psychologist and executive coach with twenty-five years of experience translating breakthroughs in brain and behavior science into everyday relief for people whose inner worlds run on high volume.

My clinical path

I began at McLean Hospital’s Borderline Personality Disorder Program, where Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) transformed prognoses once labeled hopeless. Training at Massachusetts General Hospital working with adolescents in acute crisis deepened my respect for whole-family healing, and two intensive years at UCLA’s Semel Institute refined my skills in DBT and neuropsychological assessment. Ongoing advanced study in DBT-Prolonged Exposure, Radically Open DBT, trauma-focused protocols, and the Gottman Method keeps every strategy current—and effective.

Research & teaching

I completed my research, dissertation and post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA where I examined atypical local (detail) and global (big picture) processing and interventions for over-controlled clinical populations, including autism spectrum disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and eating disorders. As an Associate Professor at UCLA I explored information processing in neurodiverse populations. Sharing those findings on international stages trained me to render dense data in plain English—an everyday win for my clients and for journalists seeking clear, compassionate commentary.

Therapy that sticks

Insight matters, but genuine connection ignites change. Each session is a collaborative laboratory where we test, track, and refine skills until they feel second nature, so you leave with tools you can use immediately.

Executive coaching

A decade of C-suite leadership has shown me how small shifts in hiring, communication, and culture unlock outsized results. I help founders and Fortune-level teams elevate performance while safeguarding mental well-being.

Outside the office

You might spot me paddle-boarding the Pacific, brokering peace between three spirited kids, or chairing the Harvard-Westlake Parents Health and Wellness Committee—daily reminders that a balanced life is the ultimate evidence-based outcome.

In the media

Outlets such as CNN, The New York Times, Forbes, and TODAY invite me to translate mental-health science for real-life challenges. I keynote regularly on suicide-prevention and evidence-based care for educators, clinicians, and parents nationwide.
