Borderline Personality Disorder Treatment
Turn emotional whiplash into grounded, satisfying connection.
Why life feels like a roller-coaster
When feelings catapult from zero to overwhelm, when one text can torch a relationship, or when self-criticism morphs into self-harm, it can seem as though your nervous system has no dimmer switch. Borderline Personality Disorder isn’t a life sentence; it’s a set of patterns your mind and body learned to survive pain. Together we can teach them something radically different.
My approach
I combine comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with trauma-informed and attachment-focused methods refined over 25 years treating BPD at McLean Hospital, Mass General, and UCLA. Sessions are active and measurable: we set weekly targets (urges to self-harm, explosive fights, crushing shame), practice skills that interrupt those loops, and log victories so you see progress in real numbers—not vague impressions.
Core skills you’ll master
Mindfulness – stay present without dissociating or judging yourself.
Distress Tolerance – ride out crisis waves without impulsive shortcuts.
Emotion Regulation – lower the surge before it hijacks your day.
Interpersonal Effectiveness – ask for what you need while protecting intimacy.
Weekly individual therapy is paired with an optional small-group skills class and between-session phone coaching, so you’re never alone with big emotions.
What change looks like
Early wins often appear within weeks: a fight ends with repair instead of breakup; suicidal urges shrink from hours to minutes; you hear self-compassion in your head for the first time. Over months, relationships stabilize, identity feels steadier, and a future that once seemed threatening starts to look inviting.
